“ I am really surprised by all these negative reviews. Everything I tired from this place was delicious and I was genuinely stunned by it. They give excellent portions and the food is actually quite good. I tried their 6 piece chicken tender meal with tender sauce, ranch, hush puppies and a pork egg roll (all of which came with the tender meal for free) as well as their fried cookie dough. The chicken itself was delicious. It was perfectly fried and still juicy on the inside. Not too dry at all. And, it wasn't too spicy while still having a lot of flavor. Not too fatty either. Just all around, great chicken. Both of the sauces were delicious too and I'd recommend them. The tender sauce is creamy and has a hint of tartness but I loved it. Great with the chicken. The sides were both very tasty too. The hush puppies were light and crispy. Still a bit sweet too. Exactly like I wanted them. The egg roll was a tad bit stale but still tasty. Stuffed with pork and vegetables. A bit dry but not bad. They even included a lovely piece of bread which was crispy and went well with the sauces. The cookie dough was one of the best desserts I've had in a while. Rich and chocolatey. Perfectly crispy. Great portion and great sweetness level. Tasted like actual cookie dough. Very good. All around, I'm not sure why this place got some of these reviews, and I really like it. Great chicken, great sides, great desserts. They also have a wide range for a menu. Try it out! ”
“ I wanted to try a new chicken place since I had tried all other surrounding chicken places in Oakland. Man this chicken is amazing. I got the tenders with tater tots and fries. The fries were decent. Tater tots were decent as well. I came for chicken so I give this place a 5 based on chicken quality. It's very tasty, soft and moist. Mixed with chipotle mayo sauce it's an amazing combo. I noticed they had fried Oreos and I said why not? 5/5. Totally recommend if you still have room for dessert. ”
“ The chicken tenders at this place are so freaking GOOD! My food is always prepared fresh and the owner is super nice and friendly. Pro tip: If you call in your order, it is cheaper than having it picked up via Yelp ”
“ Came here for the first time for dinner on a weeknight. I ordered the hibachi tofu, friend ordered the 3 cup basil chicken, and the fried cookie dough for dessert. Total came out to $21. What's Hot - Prices. The meals are under $10 each and the price varies depending on what protein you order, which makes sense. My tofu hibachi meal is under $8. The fried cookie dough is $3.99. Reasonable and decent prices for a full meal. - Location. In Oakland and good location/easily accessible. Very good walking distance, especially for the local scene. There are a lot of students, so be prepared that certain times may be busier than others. - Layout. It's not a huge place. There are a few tables downstairs, but there is an additional floor upstairs, as well, which is helpful. - Quality. Food was yummers! Looks like the food is made on the spot, rather than sitting under a heat lamp. I definitely appreciate that and the food tastes a little better because of that. The tofu is stir fried fried tofu, but the sauce was pretty good. The dish had stir fried bean sprouts and comes with egg and veggies. When I asked the clerk what type of veggies come with the dish, he responded that it's whatever vegetables they have for that day. So it sounds like it rotates. The veggie of the day was stir fried napa cabbage, which was yummy. The egg of the day was a steamed egg, which I really liked. I also like that this place doesn't just do fried eggs. Steamed egg is healthier and it's yummy if you drizzle some sauce on it, too. It's not the best Asian food I've had. But for the price, it's pretty good. The fried cookie dough was awesome! My friend said that alone is enough to make him come back again. Haha... The cookie dough was somewhat runny and gooey, but that made it taste that much better. It's drizzled with a little powder sugar, which gives it a nice sweet kick, but isn't overpowering. - Service. Staff there are nice and answer any questions you have. - Recyclable containers. We ordered our food to eat in. Our food was served in plastic container that are recyclable and come with lids. I like that these containers can be cleaned and are reusable. I'm not certain if they don't use styrofoam containers at all. But I do like that the containers we had are plastic reusable and recyclable containers. What's Not - Location/parking. It's in the heart of downtown in Oakland. It looks like it's catered to the local crowd. Almost everyone I saw who came by ordered food to go, as well. I don't recommend coming here with a car, unless you know you can find cheap nearby parking, you're taking the busy, or you're dropping someone off. Final Answer Would come back if I'm in the area. ”
“ Chicken Grille is my go to spot when I want fried chicken in Oakland -- not the newer chicken spot down the street. Even with the name change (the restaurant used to be called Tenders), the food and prices have stayed consistent. My favorite thing to get here is 4 tenders, a side, and a sauce for ~$7. It's a generous portion, but for an extra dollar or two you can get 6 tenders and 2 sides. They also sell popcorn chicken by the pound which is great when you need something quick and cheap. The best thing about this place is probably the fact that they also serve Colombian food. Their platanos are always cooked perfectly and they serve a variety of grilled chicken dishes as well. I hope they never close! ”
“ The four piece chicken meal was awesome. Yes the tenders are on the smaller size but they are fresh and lightly fried. The breading was on the spicy side but was really, really, really, good. The meal only came with one sauce but you can purchase more for a little extra. I got to try the fried pickles and an empanada, too. Yum. The empanada is spicy!! So be prepared for that. The pickles are good, not outstanding but still good. The meal came with a side, I picked the salad, which had lettuce, croutons, and cheese. Can't wait to go back. ”
